Acceptance of terms

By downloading, accessing, or using Thingamabob, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Description of service

Thingamabob is a mobile application that uses image recognition to help identify hardware fasteners from photos. The app provides estimated specifications, store-ready terminology, shopping list tools, and links to online retailers. The service is provided 'as is' for informational and convenience purposes.

No professional or engineering advice

Identifications and dimension estimates are generated by AI and are approximate. They are not a substitute for professional advice, engineering specifications, or manual measurement. Always verify dimensions with a ruler or caliper before purchasing or installing any fastener, especially for safety-critical, structural, automotive, or load-bearing applications. You are solely responsible for any parts you purchase or install based on the app's output.

No account required

Thingamabob does not require an account. All scans and shopping lists are stored locally on your device. You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.

User content

You retain ownership of the photos you submit for scanning. By uploading a photo, you grant Thingamabob a limited license to process it through our AI identification service for the purpose of generating identification results. We do not claim ownership of your photos and will not sell them to third parties.

Affiliate links and advertising

Thingamabob participates in the Amazon Associates Program and the Walmart Affiliate Program. Store buttons generate affiliate-tracked search links, and we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. The app may also display advertising. We are not responsible for the products, pricing, availability, or practices of third-party retailers or advertisers.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app, attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt its services, submit content that is unlawful or infringing, or use the app for any illegal purpose. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The app is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Thingamabob and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the app, including any purchases or installations made based on identification results.

Termination

You may delete your saved scans and shopping list at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all data from your device. We may suspend or terminate the service or your access at any time, with or without cause.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. We will note the last updated date above and notify users of material changes where appropriate. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
